Laptop Case Instructions

  1. Find a nice big piece of cardboard (check out the dumpster diving tips for inspiration)
  2. Transfer the pattern generated here to the cardboard.  Use a glue stick to stick it on lightly (don’t go too crazy with the glue, you are going to want to pull the pattern off)
  3. Cut the outside lines (thick lines)
  4. Take a slightly sharp object and draw along the fold lines with quite a bit of pressure – don’t press too hard you don’t want to put holes in it (a bone folder, the edge of a ruler or a ball point pen works pretty well)
  5. Fold all of your newly pressed lines. Remove your pattern.
  6. Put white glue (PVA) along the 1” flaps on the edge use masking tape (take a bit of the ‘stick’ out of the tape by putting it on your clothes and tearing it off first) to keep everything in place while it drys.
  7. Now is the hard part – figuring out how you would like to keep it closed – there are a couple of options – stick on Velcro (that stuff comes off easily unless you use the really strong stuff they make for hanging pictures), you might want to try to do a button with elastic thing.  Be creative!!!
  8. Add a handle if you want.
  9. And finally the fun part – decorate as you want (you could have done it while it was flat too…
